Toro
Toro: a town that echoes with the whispers of the natural world.
Behold the grandeur of the Kushiro River, a first-class meandering river embraced by Japan's largest Kushiro Wetlands.
Untouched, vast horizontal landscapes stretch across the eastern region, dotted with a network of lakes and marshes.
Amidst these, Lake Toro stands out, the largest in the wetlands and the centerpiece of our journey.
With its ever-changing seasonal beauty, the Kushiro Wetlands enchant all who visit, cradling a rich tapestry of diverse flora, fauna, and insects living abundantly. It is also a place steeped in history, home to the Ainu people who have coexisted with nature for generations. Toro is a town where the very breath of nature is audible.
Experience
A moment of supreme bliss
East Hokkaido, where the bustle of daily life harmonizes with nature's untouched splendor.
Here in the Kushiro Wetlands during the severe winter, an experience awaits that can only be had on Lake Toro.
-
The serene calm of a deep winter's night
Toro, where temperatures dip below -20°C in the grip of winter, is a realm of crystal-clear, frigid air that sculpts frost-laden trees and snow-stretched fields around a completely frozen lake.
In this natural quietude and darkness, the moon and stars cast a radiant glow over the snow's blanket, a sight that steals your breath. -
A special night's spectacle
We craft an elegant ambiance using carefully selected gear that harmonizes with nature, including the glamping tents by Nordisk, a Danish company with over a century of history, and the camping equipment by Snow Peak, showcasing Japanese craftsmanship.
-
Ainu-inspired cuisine.
Indulge in a luxurious cheese fondue, rich with cheese and beef from Shibecha Town, renowned for its dairy farming, and lavish with vegetables grown in Hokkaido. Savor fusion dishes that blend traditional Ainu recipes like "Chitatap" and "Ohaw" with modern culinary techniques.
