Can we have a diiner at THE GEEK?

A

Yes.

If you wish to have dinner at our hostel, you need to make a reservation in advance. Please note that the menu is a simple one-course meal.
The price ranges from ¥1,650 to ¥2,200 depending on the ingredients available at the time.
The restaurant is open from 17:00 to 21:00 for preparation and other reasons.
Please contact us if you cannot make the time above due to sauna-use or arrival time by public transportation.”

We have herard that we can drink the water in the room. Is it subbterranean water?

A

Yes, it is underground water.
Japan’s top clearest, world 2nd clearest underground water from lake Mashu, and only 7,000people in Shibecha town can drink.

Is there a refrigerator in the room?

A

We are sorry for the inconvinience. There is not refrigerator in the room.
If you are bringing in something, we will keep them in the refrigerator on the 1st floor, if it is a small amount.

Can we bring our own foods and drinks?

A

Yes, you can.

However, what you bring, alcoholic beverages and snacks, may be brought into the guest rooms on the 2nd floor only.
Please do understand, it is because we offer dinner and drinks in the lounge as well. In principle, guests are not allowed to bring your own alcoholic beverages into the lounge on the first floor or into the common areas, such as the wooden deck.

Can we use credit card?

Yes, you can use credit card. We aslo accept cash, prepaid transportation cards, ID, quickpay, paypay, etc.

What are the hotel ammenities?

A

There are bath& hand towels, hair dryer, hand-saop, heater, room diffuser, cups, drinkable water in each room.
In the shower room, we have shampoo, conditioner, and body soap.
*There are no tooth brush, pajamas in the room, so please bring your own travel set.

Can we stay with children?

A

We generally do not accept children under 12 years of age. We may accept them if there are no other customers booked on weekdays.

I don't drive much on a regular basis.
Is the road to the hostel rough?

A

Basically, the roads from the airport to the hostel and the way to Kushiro city are straight roads that are easy to drive.

However, wild animals such as deer may run out onto the road.
Please refrain from driving at speeds that require emergency braking.

I do not have a driver's license. Is there any way to get there other than by car?

A

You can take the airport bus and transfer to the train at Kushiro Station.
*Train service is only 7 round trips a day, so be careful to adjust your connection time!

How can I get there from the airport?

A

You can come by rental car or other passenger vehicle, or by train.
45 minutes from the airport by car, 90 minutes by airport bus if transferring to the train at Kushiro Station.

・100m from JR Kushiro Line Toro Station
It takes about 30 minutes from Kushiro Station. *The JR Kushiro Line is a local train, so please check the timetable well in advance.

When coming by car
There is only one traffic light in Toro town on Mashu National Highway 391.
Make a left turn at the traffic light in the direction of Toro Station, and the Hostel is on the right hand side at the end of the road.
From Kushiro Airport, Akan Exit on East Hokkaido Road, or National Route 391 via Kushiro Outer Ring Road from Obihiro direction on National Route 38, it is the shortest route.

We are considering a tour around East Hokkaido, using GEEK as a base. Please let us know the reference time to the neighboring areas.

It takes about 45 minutes to Kushiro Airport, about 30 minutes to Kushiro City, about 60 minutes to Lake Mashu and Lake Kussharo, about 30 minutes to Tsurui Village, about 90 minutes to Lake Akan Hot Spring Resort and Ainu Kotan, and about 45 minutes to Akkeshi.

Hokkaido has many unique place names, so entering addresses is time-consuming. What keywords should I use when searching?

A

Please search for THE GEEK or Toro Station on Google map. If you directly entered the address into your car navigation system, it may lead you to a different place because the registered information of latitude and longitude is not accurate. Please check the location in advance before coming.

Do you have any recommendations for flights from Kanto/Kansai to Kushiro Airport or nearby airports?

A

If you are coming from the Kanto area
From Haneda Airport, ANA/JAL flies 3 round trips per day.
From Narita Airport, Peach flies once a day.

From Kansai area
Peach has one flight per day.
